Trust me, it CAN'T mode hop Only DPSS systems can do that, and the Dilda is just a straight diode. No point trying to argue it can.

Did you actually see two dots, or is that just what the camera picked up? Because Jimmymcjimthejim is probably right, camera just took it wrong.

And even if you did see two dots, it's not because it's mode hopping, it's because your diode is stuffed

was just asking, "if not mode hopping (since it was a term I saw on here but now know applies only to DPSS) then what was going on?"

my camera picking it up wrong is a very likely explanation. cuz I didn't see that problem with my eyes.
anyway I RMA'd it especially since I couldn't stand the other problem with it.

There is a circle around the laser, I tried cleaning the lens but it didn't do anything.

Here is a picture of the laser on a reflective WALL. You can see the round lines on both sides..
