relative to randomlugia's thread on his Sega Dreamcast, except on a Nintendo Gamecube. Really th only thing i want to know is the type of diode in the sled. my guess is IR

Well, there would be no need for it to be other than IR, so it probably is IR, as the GameCube only reads CD's.

the GCN uses mini-DVD roms with like a 1.5gb capacity - so i'd expect a red laser in the 1-5mW area
