Prototype, you'd be correct on that one. If it's actually a Gen III nightvision system it shouldn't have any infrared LEDs.

These aren't your CoDMW2 'nightvision goggle' appendages. These nightvision systems don't work by illuminating with IR, instead, they pick up existing light and intensify it, hence why they're called light intensifiers, as opposed to other 'night-vision' systems which simply flood the surroundings with telltale IR light.
