After seeing the FS thread about the kryton host I knew that had to be my next host. My original plan was to get a host a put a powerful 532nm module in it because I always thought Powerful green lasers where cool and they look just amazing when pointed into the night sky. Now I don't think I can do that.

1. The kryton hosts dont come in 12mm which I think is what size of the 532nm modules

2. Lasever I guess has been acting pretty shady

3. A powerful 532nm module is pretty darn expensive

So now I need to decide what I should put in the host once I get one. I already have a 1.8W 445nm. Im not sure if I want a red because Im just not too interested in them. I am more in it for the brightness and beam rather than burning power.

So it seems to me I am left with some flavor of green.

What do you guys think? I think something unique would be nice.

Thanks :D

Theres been a thread asking this Not long ago if you do a search ......but 593nm for me

561nm? That's bright and the beam is pretty visible

It'll run you $850-1k in a custom host though...

CNI might offer 1W 532nm modules for custom builds in the GB.

Wow, this stuff is expensive. I looked into the 532nm CNI modules on live chat and I'm not sure if the person knew exactly what I was talking about but prices were like $2/mW :(

Also are you saying there is a CNI GB going on right now?

EDIT: Please excuse my ignorance, I found the GB

Hey FlutterPie!

This may be pricey, but you could try maybe 520nm? Or maybe even go 500nm?

Both would look amazing and blow away others :)

520nm
500nm

There is a diode that outputs 100mW+ of 520nm - PL520. it is a normal diode and on dtr's store it will set you back around $85

The 500-520nm is an option for me. I'm just wondering how nice will the beam be in Low power such as 80mW and such. Now I know 80mW isn't technically low power but compared to a 200mW 532nm it is.

500nm will cost you $2999 or something like that, last I asked CNI.

The PL515's and PL520's are an option though, for 515 and 520nm (respectively).

Or you could get an argon laser :)

You forgot to mention the power per milliwatt ^

Lemme include that, $2999 /mW :p

500nm just won't happen.

There's also that :p

Once I get the Omni realigned, I plan to get some fiber coupling for it to bring out the color of the 496 and 501 lines. Since beamshots aren't in my near future really..

I just got my 520 yesterday and it looks absolutely brilliant. I don't have an LPM but without fog the beam is VERY visible in a dark room and in the city sky which isn't dark at all it looked like the beam just went on forever.

Well on second thoughts a 473nm would be sweet, it would be grand if there was a total range of diodes available at 10nm spacing ...OK now i wake up and stop dreaming ....

Yeah, 473 really is a beautiful color. Do people actually sell 473nm diodes or do only laser company's like CNI sell complete lasers?

There have been about 8 that I know of that popped into our hobby. Don't count on a diode, look for a DPSS module.
