Well, after doing some research here is what i have come up with for those cheap high powered greenies.

All current NewWish lasers are made with the same circuit (some variations), so the main difference would be the efficiency of the ktp crystal and the body of the laser.

So here are the good bits people want to know about:
1. ALL official NewWish lasers do not come with any IR filter.
2. The circuit will allow up to 5v to go to the diode, the pot does nothing.
3. The Beam Divergence is ~2.4mrad on all models ---- Not good..
4. Output of the laser is measured at the factory with laser power meter before shipment. PEAK output is what determines the power rating.

I was unable to obtain the strength of the pump diode...

Hopefully this information helps some people.
 





Sorry, but some of that info is wrong. The "true" models 50mW and under on DX (NewWish) DO have IR filters. They aren't great, but they work good enough. The beam divergence is not 2.4mRad on all models, the 5 NewWish lasers I have handled all have great divergence, closer to 1mRad. Also, the power levels are very random so it is not only the peak. My friend has a NewWish that is rated at 50mW, yet it can light matches with ease, 50mW cannot do that unaided.

This info is straight from the NewWish business team.
Thats what they quote so, anything else is a crapshoot.

NewWish told me that none of their green lasers ship with IR filters. the ones from DX could be fake ones.
I have all the specs and prices for each unit Newwish produces, i would think it would be accurate.
 
Well after seeing some responses i decided to digg further to see what was up.

After a phone call to NewWish offices in china i talked to several people, only one of them spoke decent english.
I spoke to Alice and i asked her a number of questions.

here are the Q&A:
People that have 30mW and below NewWish lasers claim there is an IR filter in them, do you make green lasers with ir filters?
Answer: "but our green lasers without IR filter"

So there is no kind of ir filter used at all with your lasers?
Answer: "in fact .our green laser pointer without IR filter.but the green laser presenter with IR filter."

The people who are claiming these lasers have ir filters buy them from DealExtreme.com, are they the same models you have and sell?
Answer: "sorry.i can't open the link"

So no green laser "pointer" comes with IR filter, meaning these models don’t have ir filter at all. NW-G-G002 through NW-G-G012 right.
Answer: "Yes"

So if i said my NewWish green laser pointer had an ir filter in it then that would mean it’s not really a NewWish laser?
Answer: "Our laser without ir. Maybe"

Well there you have it; this is straight from their offices.

Listen, why would multiple people working at the NewWish facility blatantly give me wrong information multiple times.. If you want to believe that their lasers come with IR filters, then go RIGHT ahead.
 
I’ve spent more than enough money at DX to learn and practice the workings of green lasers. I unfortunately learn with my hands and not by reading, and have discovered that all DX lasers that have APC, DO COME WITH IR FILTERS. The 35mw-100mw labby's do not, the true 50, 100 & 200mw pointers also DO NOT. The Rominsen 30 does not, only the units with APC which is getting fewer by the day have it. They use a tiny thin angled IR filter to bounce light into the photo sensor, and this has only been found on the modules stamped newish. Moreover, all the DX lasers 5mw-50 (not true 50) are the exact same parts. They sort them after production depending on their output, but the parts are identical. Up to the 50mw (untrue) the parts are closed can 5.6mm 808 200mw pumps, 2 lenses between the diode and the medium and a collimator and an IR filter opposing the photodiode. The true 50, 100 and 200 are also all the same, sold based on performance. They use 9mm open can multimode pumps with no lenses between the diode and the crystals, no APC and therefore no IR filters. I have replaced the crystals in the true 50, and got 100mW, had this had happened at the production facility, the price would have been 109. The way they sort the units seems to be a flawless system for them, in that all lasers sell. The same principal applies to the newish 16.99 bare modules, they say 5mw but all the ones I have received have been at minimum 15-20mW. It’s a very smart system they use that seems to work out for everybody. If you want a green 200mw, buy the true 50 and either change the crystals, or try to align it by tightening down the crystal bringing it closer to the diode. ;D
 
Imo the Dx penlasers up to 50mw are ok and all of the rest are trash. Just save up to buy an RPL or Hercules if you want a reliable laser without any issues and you don't feel like returning 5+ of the dx 200mw greens before you get one without any issues.
 
Actually, the true 50 in my opinion is the best of them all. The driver board is 500ma and does not suffer the heat issues. The diode even on fleabay will cost you 60. bucks minimum. For 54$ you get a pointer that has a ton of potential, just a little TLC and some patience, you will have the power you want. All the stuf I get from DX is a fun challenge, had I orderd the crystal set I use in my greens and practiced on them, id simply be frustrated and broke with no lasers >:( All of the reading I have done would not have yeilded the knowledge and practical experiance I have gotten from DX units. And surely I would have burned up crystals that cost me 100US a set. :(


DX is the best way to go if you want to build your own 200mW+ greens, without wasting expensive parts, making the n008 mistakes that we are all bound to make.

I'm never going to buy a newwish laser because they're shit, so it's a moot point.
 
OK here's a question... After owning 3 NewWish greens, a 5mw, 50mw(both APC models with pots) and now a 150mw(no APC/pot), I see a kind of annoying trend. At the aperture, the beam is say 1mm in diameter. BUT, a mere 4m out, the beam is about 3mm in diameter.. This is true of all 3. I shudder to think of long distances, although I still can see a spot on houses about 2km away. How big is that spot? Who knows but at that rate I bet 15cm or so :(

I actually can rotate/focus the collimating lens on my 150, and the above specs are the best I can get.. >:( Not to mention the corona.. I do not even want to go there.. NO cleaning I do, inside and out, will get rid of it.

Are there better collimating lenses that can be fitted into these? This 150mw is rock stable.. these flaws are a shame.

The corona you speak of can be caused by the retaining ring which holds the lens in place. DX has a tendency to use fat retaining rings between the expander and the collimator. Remove the ring and the lens, replace the lens and hold it in place with a ring made from thin brass tube. Not only should the power increase a tad, but it should correct the "corona".
