Newby help.. What compares to this?

Hello all, I recently purchased a cheap little 2 laser light show from a garage sale (green and red lasers), and the red was toast on it. I had a broken laser level, so I took out the red one from it, and soldered it in.

The thing works nicely now, however I don't like the red, lol. It look too "Christ-massy" for my likings, and also the red isn't nearly as bright as the green. The green is labelled 532nm <500mW, and I have no idea what the red was, as I threw out the level that had the label on it.

I'd love to put in a violet, or blue laser instead, but how strong does it need to be to compare to the <500mW green one? It also can't be some huge module, as it need to fit in the OEM spot, which is 12mm diameter, and 4cm long at most, the original was like this one...

I know green is the most visible, so it'll be hard to match, but surely there's a stronger blue or violet one that can come somewhat close?

You could easily build (or buy) a blue (445nm) or a violet (405nm) module to fit the projector.
Blue would be the easiest to "match" power output.

The challenge is that "<500mW" could mean anything from 1mW to 499mW.
You will need to get the output of the green module measuerd with a Laser Power Meter (LPM) to be able to "match" the green if you buy the module

If you build it yourself, you could adjust the output by visually comparing the perceived brightness before completing assembly.

Thanks, I'll have to locate a LPM locally. Not that big of a deal, just thought the little laser dance gizmo was kind of cool for parties.... I'll have to point it at the floor though, so I don't blind anyone, lol.

Normally the red Lasers in a Laser Level are <5mW to
make them more or less Eye Safe...

I'm looking for the same option. My DL-22 (Double Red Green Laser Stars Light Show Stage Projector (Auto & Sound DL-22RG) - DailyShop.com) laser projector's Power output is as follows...100mW(Red); 40mW(Green) 650nm(Red); 532nm(Green)

My ideal situation would be to plug in a different color into the existing plug for $30 and have something other than a Christmas light show. I found this unit on eBay that looks like it will snap into the existing heat sink. Too good to be true?
