Hello everyone! I am Gegamega, or Sam. Either one works. The way I was introduced into the laser hobby was by a YouTuber by the name of styropyro. He’s a super cool content creator. Anyway, lasers have always fascinated me so when I heard there was a hobby surrounding it, I was super excited to find a community of people who were just as fond of lasers as I was. Now I am very new to this and I did read the threads regarding newbies like me. So I will try to stay active here and since school is out for the summer where I live. That shouldn’t be a problem. Oh, and I live on the eastside of Washington state!😁

Cheers everyone

Welcome to the LPF, Sam, from someone on the west side of Washington State. I have been in Tacoma for over 18 years now, but also lived in Vancouver, WA back in the 1980s.

Welcome to LPF, I hope you enjoy the forum and the hobby, it is very addictive.

There's always a lot to learn about laser technology and much to enjoy as well as a lot more to come as lasers are so useful and will be evolving for the foreseeable future, just remember safety 1st and the rest is wide open.

Oh cool! I went to state for bowling out in Tacoma. quite a stinky place lol, but a really pretty area! How long have you been tinkering with lasers as a hobby?

Thank you! I can see myself using lasers for my other hobbies like hobby rocket building. That’s one of the main reasons I wanted to get into lasers.

I got my first HeNe laser in in 1980. Started making holograms.

Wow that’s pretty cool! I thought holograms were like sorta Star Wars technology lol. Guess not, that would be fun to make!

I saw my first hologram in the physics building at Lamar University back in 1974. It was the "Kiss II". That piqued my interest in them.

Wow interesting, that’s something to certainly think about as I progress through my learning about lasers!
