I searched several times and haven't seen this mentioned yet, if I missed it I apologize, and any mod should feel free to delete this thread. O-Like's old blu-ray driver was less than perfect, it seems. It didn't have a potentiometer, just a resistor for setting current, but this new driver resembles a green driver more than anything else. It has a clicky switch on the opposite side of the pot. The output is 50-250mA @ 4.8VDC, so it won't work for a really strong blu-ray build.

405nm blu-ray laser diode driver [OLBVD20] - $6.59 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products

Mmm, certainly is new.

It'd be great for a 4X build in a pen, if you could find a green-style collimating ass'y that would fit into a pen host.

It should be on par with Laserlands' version of this driver

I just ordered some of these drivers for 2 PHR pen builds I can let you know how they work out :)

Prototype,
Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
I have been looking for a cheap driver for lower powered 405's and some reds.
Now I think I may order some of these and see how they work!

I might wait til iknitsteel tells us if they are good or not though...

I ordered these a little while ago so they should be getting to my house any time now I dont like international shipping lol

Yeah, I have 10 on the way in. I want to see if it will power the new 445 with 3 AAA batteries.

On a side note the rayfoss drivers seem to have vanished. No listing so far this year.

The input is 3-5 volts so 3 AAA will work but the output current is only up to 250mA that will be seriously under powering a 445nm diode unless you want it at that power

Yeah exactly, I will build/sell these way underpowered on purpose. IMO 1A builds belong in a lab unit.

Just my personal bias.

I'll review it here in about a month.

ok so I got the driver hooked it up and nothing happens I am inputing 3 volts from 2 AA batteries and nothing is coming out on my dummy load and I have hooked up the wires right just as the picture on o-likes page with the power + at the top and the power - at the spring as of now both of my drivers dont work Ill tinker with them and see if I can get them to work but for me they are DOA :(

I got it all figured out but you dont hook it up like they have in the pictures on O-Likes page I bypassed the switch for setting the current here is a video review that I did really quick (also to test out the HD on my iPhone 4 :)) I am going to post it also in the review section. O like is completely wrong on how to wire this thing the only connection they have correct is the negative to the battery just took some figuring out but it works fine also the pot is extremely sensitive you barely have to turn it to adjust it

thanks for the video, it was really helpful.
what kind of tablet are you using and are you happy with it's performance?

Glad it is helpful

The tablet is a HP Elite Book 2730p running windows 7 it is awesome lol I like it alot performance is good as long as you dont like render stuff or game hard core lol but for a general tablet it does very good
