Hello everyone, as of this weekend I'm a proud new member of The Laser Forums.

It all started a couple of days ago when a co worker of mine brought in his 55mW Wicked Laser to work, I'd never seen anything like it before and became instantly fascinated.
So, it just so happens that this weekend I get sick, which kept me in bed all weekend, which had me on the Internet alot researching these things.   Through my own extensive research I ended up here after almost getting sucked into LC and almost buying a Techlaser.

Well I'm much more informed now after a weekend's worth of forum reading, Youtube watching, and web browsing madness.  I originally decided on the Nova x100.... Then I started thinking, "Well I'm about to spend a bunch of money I don't have so get the most burn for your buck" and convinced myself to go with the x125...  But man, they're out of stock, so I'm waiting to hear back from Nova sales on when they'll have the x125 in stock again.  I can't go up to the x150 as it's out of my price range alone, and I have to get the $69 goggles because I already wear glasses.

Oh, I wanted to ask... Does anyone have a Nova that they've had for a long time?  I'm a broke college student and if I buy this laser, it's going to be my Christmas present to myself and only a 3 month warranty is concerning on something so expensive, I would like to know what kind of lifespan I can expect.

So, now I wait.  Wait for either the x125's stock to replenish or hope that maybe Nova will hook up an x150 for the price of an x125.  When I do get my hands on on you can expect a review with lots of cool pictures and some match igniting, tape cutting, balloon popping action.

Novalasers is one of the most respected laser companies here. Their lasers are always overspec, and they are very reliable. An x125 will probably average between 135 and 145mW, and peak just above 150mW. From what I have heard, if you are going to buy a green pointer, go with Nova.

Good luck!

Good company choice and very smart idea buying goggles :)! Maybe in the meantime you can buy a 5mW green to have fun with while the NOVA ships and you could learn how to handle a laser.

i broke my green laser just today so i may consider buying this

my nova x-100 stays over 120 mW average i think its the most stable of the 100mw + units not putting anyone down either i have just seen more issues with the 125 and 150 than with the x75 or x100 :-X

What laser was it? i might be interested in buying it for a host. Back to topic, my nova x75 average 95mW and peaked at 98mW was so stabile shame i left it on for too long and it died :'(

Well guys I did it. It took me awhile to click that buy button, but now my x125 and goggles are on their way.

Good for you. I'm expecting my x125 to arrive monday or tuesday. Still need to get goggles though, so I'll have to play safe for a while. Let us know what you think of it when it arrives, I'll do the same.

optotronics is a good laser brand too, they are made in the USA, and they have the best beam divergence on the market. just go to www.optotronics.com

My X100 averages 102mW... At least it's not underpowered...If you ask them, they'll pick a good one out for you though. ("Why didn't you tell me until AFTER you ordered it dad?")

Oh yeah, I read up on Optotronics with their unique diode technology and unsurpassed warranty.  They're just a bit out of my price range though.  When I'm ready to move up I would almost surely get an RPL.
