I would like if it was legit, but if you told me cni had a hand held 1000mw small handheld, I would not believe it so I have no idea how that laser could possible be in spec and for that price, I would not believe that if I were you I would bet its 200mw. I may be wrong, but, 1000 would take a 3W IR diode and cooling for the optics, I would want more juice for a 3W diode than 1 3.7 cell also. That is if they are really good and get optimal efficacy out of the KTP. So you may want to read the thread http://laserpointerforums.com/f41/laserpointerpro-64170.html also. If you want a realy nice stable green, its costly. The cni built laser you looked at has a 250mw version. Also if you want to go cheap but not get scammed or a piece of junk you could check out lazerer.com but he is down today right now, or I would have posted you a link, said he is restocking. you could look at this its way more than you need and an eye hazard http://www.o-like.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=124 I bet it can do 340mw or so. It just depends on you view on quality and the amount of money you have to spend.

yea i liked the rifle brand laser's on lazerer's website but now that site is down til 3/24.

i just want someone with experience to post a link to a really good green laser that will burn. also i will need some good glasses also.

a good laser depends on what you want to brun and how far away you want to burn, any laser focused at 200mw is an ok burner though, you can burn with less though, and a 1w laser burns even better, are you sure you want green?

from my understanding the "green" laser is the brighest laser and good all around burning laser. they also have a smaller more focused dot from what i was told.

i really loved the blue color ones but hear they are not as good at burning and they also are not nearly as visible at night.
 
thank you guys for all your help.

i have ordered some safety glasses and i did find a laser that i think i will be happy with.

now to do some real research and understand this hobby better and be safe about it.

i have also learned its not all about burning and fire. that is just a "side effect" of some of these powerful lasers.

im pretty sure i came off sounding bad when i kept asking about burning and such.

anyways thanks guys and i hope to post up some pics and results soon
