New 405nm Diode - 9mm 1W Rated

Definitely interested. If the price/power ratio of these is better than our best 405s on the market I wouldn't mind taking a few of these and pumping different things in the name of science.

Intentional double post-

Thought has just came to me. Anyone really reckon these are what BMW are using in their headlights?

Probably higher powered blue laser arrays like in the projectors.

Wooo science! Very interested in how these diodes will be turning out. Can you do any wavelength test too by any chance? I see a bright violet future ahead of us :P

Do the newer 405nm diodes have the bad reliability reputations like the older ones did? 405nm is my favorite but I've been betrayed by them too many times.

I wasn't aware of bad reliability with 405s... but then again I haven't done much with the high powered violet diodes. Any chance you could point me to a thread discussing these issues?

Price is too high guys. It is around $450 per diode.

Unless it does around 2W of power I will not buy one for a try. If you want to make a murder fund I am willing to host it and will put $50 my self.

Yeah like I said in post 12, I was quoted around that. The lady said it was a new diode but that can't be true right? They were around for a few years...?

Some single-mode 405 nm diodes can actually already reach 1 W, although I don't expect them to have extremely long lifespans.
