Hey peoples,

I've been searching locally, no luck, and on ebay they are quite clearly ripping people off ($5 for shipping of one tap, which is $8? Right).

So I just turned to people of this forum for help.

Anybody has a tap that has not been used, or was mildly used, that they don't need anymore?

Just name your price, bear in mind shipping to Croatia.

Thanks!

P.S. Is it normal for Ebay peoplez, selling a $8 tap, to counter offer you $7.80? I mean seriously, 20 cents? You hit me with that and I'll go and buy a tap from other person for $8 flat out of general principle.

They did the same thing to me. I just ended up buying from that seller. He is the cheapest, but I did buy at the $8 price, just cause $.40 in my case, wasnt worth the trouble.

I would look around on site such as grainger or mscdirect. Thats where I get most of my machine tools from.

Bob, I would get it at $13, not $8 (it's $5 shipping for me, you're in Australia anyhow).

RainFade, thanks man, will look around. Perhaps I find something.

Same shipping price to me too. I meant the $8 for the item.

Eudaimonium, I'll check at my work if we have any for less than $8. I have 50% off discount so I could do you a good deal.

:D

ED when you see People on Fleebay with a Price for the Item being EX. $2 and the Shipping EX. $15 this is so the dont get hit with as many Ebay Fees since Ebay does not take fees out for shipping Prices.

SO this Allows them to some what beat the system and make more money. This is frown upon on ebay and i even believe they have a specific Option in the report section for such thing.

SO in your case the Item Might be worth what he listed it for but to save him more Fleebay fees he makes the shipping more then the actual items price.

Hope this Helps why people do this.

  • 9mm x .5 High Speed Steel Plug Tap cannot be shipped to the selected address.

I knew it was too good to be true.

Damn dyethor... you just made me realise I bought a tap, not a bottoming tap!

Eudaimonium take that into consideration when buying a tap for use in HS and focus adapters.

I will have to cut my tap and maybe grind it down. DAMN!

Edit: The focus adapters will not need to be threaded that far down... I should be fine with cutting it down and using the starting threads to cut.. phew, but still need to mod it :/

Thanks guys, for mentioning that. I guess bottoming tap is the one with little to no difference in tap cuttings along the lenght of the tap itself?

So thread starts off good for lens right away, since you cannot push it through entire way.

Right?

It's used to tap a thread the whole way down in the hole. The bottoming tap would be the one on the bottom.

You can see the difference here

Yeah I assumed so.

So, guess it's back to searching then.
Unless somebody here offers to sell anything.

Well, one case scenario is buying regular one, and machining it to size.

Other is machining the entire tap from steel material, which was even considered an option at some point. Might have to go back to that.
