Hi, sorry if I posted this in the wrong place but I need some of your thoughts. Im looking for a laser with good beam and that can burn matches and tape and pop baloons etc.. and for about 200-230$...
So if I will burn matches and stuff I will be very close to the beamspot, so I guess I need some goggles too.
I just don't want to just buy something and then later hear about some better and cheaper laser. Will an x85 do my work? Or is an x65 good enough, since Im going to buy the lens holder with lenses. Hope you can help me! ;) Everyone that can please tell me, not only the first who answers and then nobody else answers because you think that I got my answer. Thanks and good bye!

well in that price range there's not much. a phoenix or one of the lower end nova's or dragons. or a DX mystery laser. even then unless you get a overspec unit it might smoke tape or pop a ballon but it's not going to light a match.

It's alot of money we're talking about, since im not Bill gates son. I just want to know if im going to be happy with an x65... I could buy even the most expensive laser but I dont want to spend too much money...And ofcourse I have to buy goggles too, 49,99$ and I want the lens holder with lenses that Novalasers offers, 22,99$

I should be getting an x65 in the mail any day now so I can tell you how it performs. It will also be my first green laser or high-powered laser. Unfortunately I didn't get the optics yet. If you feel like waiting I can fill you in.

If I use the sport style safety goggles from Nova, will I see anything? And will I be absolutely safe when burning something?
I got a dx 30 and Im wondering if its dangerous when using it inside without goggles? And if its dangerous when pointing it at mirrors and shiny objects even tho the beam doesn't hit my eyes?

Oh, and will I be able to se the liquid sky without smoke with the x85, in a dark room or outside at night?

You will still see the dot pretty good, it won't be bright but you can easily see it. And about the parents, tell them that you are getting goggles so it's safer, and say that you are learning a lot about lasers too becuase they know you will be responsible with it. And you will be able to see the liquid sky at night, it won't be super bright though unless it's foggy.

Thank you so much for the great answers to my questions. My mum finally says that she will even pay for it herself if I babysit my lil sister tomorrow ;D :) :o :P
Is the 20$ more for the case? I think I will get that too.

Yeah dude definitely go for that laser I got my x65 today and it's amazing so an x85 will obviously be better. I have a thread that I just made about it here: laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1187281914
and I'll upload some night pictures later tonight. It's definitely worth it.

I also have the x85 (with lens holder and optics) and it can indeed light (dark colored)matches and cut tape, but red tipped (2,5") matches are somewhat difficult to do without lens.

The red matches will burn with the lens but you have to hold it very close to the laser because the focal lenght of the lens is only 12mm, so you could accidentally burn or damage the lens (but these lenses are relatively cheap fortunately)

The line generation tool give very nice effects when you shine it into a tree or grass (the grass will look like glowing glass fibres)
A larger field with low vegetation changes into a sea of green light want you hold the laser just above it horizontally

Hi!

Nice to hear about that, im so excited! It seems so cool at night, and nice to compare with the dx 30. ;)
GO NOVA! ;D
