Does anyone know where i can find a 3 Ohm or 7 Ohm resistor? if anyone has one or two would you be interested in selling?

1/2watt is enough, 1 watt and the resistor is bigger. depending on the current, you may be able to get away with 1/4 watt

If using a 3 ohm resistor with the LM317, the current going to the diode will be 416ma's. This means you need a .52 watt resistor. Granted you could use a 1/2 watt resistor, but I like to follow ohms law and do what ohms law is telling me to do.

You can get away with a 1/4 watt resistor if you drive the diode with 200ma's or less. The calculations are very simple when working with the 317.

cool, ill order that flame proof one you linked gazoo,  I appreciate it everyone, thanks!
