I recently overheat my 9mm diode while i was too amazed playing with it. Call me dumb/stupid. I totally forgot about the duty cycle :yabbem:
Now i thought of an idea, not sure if it will work, can someone good with electronic tell me if it will work good without damage to diode/driver? like spike, surge etc whatever bad things that happen
If i wire like this
power supply---->on/off switch---->thermal switch----->xdrive----->diode---->power supply

or
Code:
           +                                   -

         switch                                |

   thermal switch                              |

       driver +                          driver -

            -----(diode+)-------(diode -)-------

If it is ok, is 45deg a good value to turn it off or will 40deg much better?
Thanks for your time =D

the thermal switch is

Looks good to me i think 45C would be better temp, assuming it is fast thermal switch otherwise 40 degrees and slow thermal, not much point if your thermal really doesn't cut in till
50C getting rather hot by then

You will also need to put the thermal switch near the diode as to get best results, might be bit hard but
Its do able with some thought

Not sure if it is a fast or slow. But for the price I guess it is slow.
The thermal switch ,you should be able to bring up specs that will tell you the time.of course you need the spec sheet, goes without saying that once it does trip leave laser off until it really has cooled down which depending in the heatsink could be some time
