hi i have a diode i harvested from a sony blu ray player and it has the numbres on it 8lrg p529. Is anyone familiar with this diode?

That's only a reader, you'll get low powers out of it. It would be easier to buy a PHR diode for 10$, as PHR's are well documented.

is it not the blu ray diode or was the other diode the good one

The Blu ray diodes that only read are very low power, you need the Blu Ray Burner diode
