Need help with Diode

i gutted this diode off of one of those big office printers , it was pointing at a hex mirror turntable thing. anyway i was wondering how i would power it and if id be able to use it on my reprap to cut vinyl ? only markings on it is an R next to the pins

Really depends on the diode package. It would be easy enough to modify the extruder to carry a diode instead of a hot end.

IIRC the diodes out of printers are not very strong (sub 1mW) and they are IR.

this is the board it was on

removed from the board , that plastic mount is formed around it

the 3 pins , the R isnt visible due to the camera flash being so damn bright

I wouldn't bother with that. The lens looks nice, though.

Keep the optics you found, they will be good for learning and tinkering with a low powered laser.
