need help on running a 16X diode

im going to put a 16X red diode in a DX module.
i looked at deadels driver board but im not sure exactly what parts i need.
i want to run the diode at about 100mw.

just stating that you don't know how to build a laser.. I'd suggest doing some searching and reading. everything that you are curious about has already been discussed in this forum.

yeh, il just buy the driver, and maybe a 16X diode from hightechdeals.
any ideas on the mw's from these. if i get an adjustable rkcstr driver can i turn it down to say 30mw and then back up to its max? without wrecking anything. just for my eyes sake...
how much current should i run to it, i was going to run either 3V or 4.5V into the driver? which should i use, it doesn't bother me with finding a suitable host.

The drop out voltage through the driver is 2.25V
It is recommended to use at least 5v but 6V will
give good output.

You may want the full range adjustable driver which powers 30mA
through 430mA.

ps, I burned up my first 16x learning the upper limits of the micro pot, be careful, make adjustments
in small (tiny) increments after the 1/2 way point!

just an FYI: I don't sell 16x red diodes anymore. only 20x red diodes and PHR-803T Blu Ray diodes.

you could turn it down to 30mW and run it at low powers sure. and could turn it back up later. You should probably use a test load or dead diode to turn up the current with though, it's not good for the diode if you change the current while it's running...

for 16x diodes, about 250mA is good for long lifetime and plenty of power.. for 20x diodes, about 400mA is good.

yes. I think I remember seeing someone post about running a 22x at 450mA, don't hold me to it though, look around in the red diode section, there's lots of stuff about 22x diodes...

and the max current from the rkcstr driver may be more than 430mA, you should measure it first (with a test load, dead diode, or series of silicon diodes to equal the voltage dropout) to make sure it's not 500mA or something like that.
