I would really recommend these: Eagle Pair® 190-540nm Standard Laser Safety Goggles I know they arent as cheap as you want. But eyes arent cheap either.

Max was going to test a few of these at some point. No idea what conclusion has been reached if any.
It would be good if he also started selling quality goggles.
In the meantime however, I would err on the side of caution, and assume that they are not enough when dealing with 1W+ lasers.
