NEED HELP! 808nm C Mount laser

Re: NEED HELP! 808nm C Mount Laser

Ya STALKER no offense I'm lost with what your saying I'm with UPAAA on this I have seen with my own eyes a 15W laser cut 20 gauge steel 4" circles no problem..

Well, then I suggest you go back to
wherever it was you saw this laser and find
out EXACTLY what it was. Efficient metal
cutting requires a nice gaussian beam. That
means either CO2, DPSS, or fiber coupled.
20 gauge is only 36mils, so it is very thin
meet shetal. Think of a computer case.

But okay let's say I get an 8W 808nm. One is 808nm okay for etching?

Etching metal is an entirely different
ballgame. It works by blasting away the
surface. An 8W diode isn't going to "cut it".

15W Co2 CW will melt thin iron wire like the supports in filaments lamps when focused but thats very thin

60W from a 808nm diode when focused can burn holes into craft knife blades and I managed to ignite magnesium with 60W of Co2 power both focused and unfocused , not cut unfortunately :P
