Not sure I would have to look at it. The 2.4A @ 8.4V will draw around 1.8A since it is a buck driver. The 1.8A would draw around 1.5A @ 8.4V.

With the cut out bit, do you think it is the protection thing kicking in and by me removing power, am I bypassing the normal wait time?

Well, while I was writing this I think I maybe just answered my own question. I left the power on and it went into a pretty much 30 sec on / 30 sec off cycle without any further interference from me.

Anyway, off to work so I can afford another laser
