Well, here we go again... another build from...you guessed it...ME!!!!
Anyways.....I'm shootin' for a high powered Red Laser this time. Nothing too high, just something that can do average burning. You know, light matches, pop balloons, cut tape, light fireworks, and see the beam in daylight. So yeah. If I remember correctly, the MA of the driver should be around 400. I'm going to need a CHEAP but GOOD heatsink for it considering the power, and will most likely be using a Groove Drive with preset milliamps. I'm just asking for some help on the build such as tips, where to even buy the stuff, and what I should use for a housing. Lastly, I will probably need the diode already set into the housing, because, well, I learned that I have difficulty doing that the hard way. Thanks for any help, Logan.

.

meh i must have missed all of your builds.
Well when you decide on a diode, you should use rkcstr driver

Dude, where have you been?!

Folks are assembling 1W+ Direct blue 445nm lasers, and you want a red?
And what's with the dramatic intro, is you building a laser some national holiday?

And correct the "Wright" into "Write" in your signature.

Go get yourself some 445nm diodes in any of group buys, they retail for about 2x of the price of red module linked by Kevlar, and enjoy your new rewarding blue laser build.

Just in case I was not clear, it's ot 405nm bluray, it's 445nm blue.

Thanks mate.
Yeah I do want a red. And I thought that the Wright looked weird after I wrote it.

Momo, build the laser YOU want. Personally, I love my red and still use it all time. Don't get me wrong, my 445nm is blue awesomeness and I love that too.

Even though you building a red now, you might want to get a 445nm diode while their available. I don't think anyone can honestly predict what going to happen with them in the future.

Here's the thing, mate. I'm twelve. I'm a huge tech geek, and already have built a PHR - 803T Blu-Ray. I Am getting a project box for that today. Anyways, ya. Could you give me some info on how to build a red laseR?

building a red laser is pretty much the same expect for Vf is 2-3V and the pin-out is different. Here is a pick of a red diode pin-out

Reds are usually driven at 400mA but I drove one up to 470mA, they can take a lot.
Also, that's only valid for LONG die laser diodes, short die tend to die at 350mA maybe even less.

LPC 815 sled contains very good LOC diode. Place to start is HighTechDealz.

Otherwise, just click the 445nm lasers section and check out the group buys.
