Hi!

Thanks.

i attach a photo.sure is this diode?

Re: red laser project

You won't get much from an 8X 100mW tops is my best guess. Dunno what current though ...

Re: red laser project

I would say start a 50mA and then slightly increase the current until your able to light a match from close range. It's not very effective, but without an LPM, or any data charts it's going to be hard to give a reasonable estimate.

Re: red laser project

i need a special circuit to suply the diode?a resistant mabe its not enough? :-?

It would be prefered, yes. :P

Sorry to say that, but it sucks that no-one seems to read the great FAQs that are around here...

thanks.where can i find the great FAQs?any info about ma for the diode and circuit and mw?

i don't think anyone really knows....this being your first attempt at building a laser, you'll prob kill the diode anyways, when that happens, run over to stonetek and buy a 16x diode and run it at 250mA.

Your probably going to have to buy a Flex drive and find a good current yourself, the laser community usually builds lasers with 20X diodes. So you may just be better off buying a 16X diode, there is an abundance of knowledge on them here.

Around 50mw at 2.9v turned mine into an LED. I think its an LED now will post pics and stuff in a new post

I use a resistant and i give 140ma to the diode for a few seconds and is still work but it looks a bit weak.I dont know how many mw pump out!
