My first Dorcy Metal Gear DIY Laser is a success!

I figured I'd mess up the first attempt due to the fact that I'm terrible at soldering but to my supprise it turned out great. It easily (and quickly) pops balloons from 25+ feet away , and the beam is clearly visible at night. Thanks to Senkat for the parts and the flashlight!

Thanks! And also a big thanks to you Kenom for all your tutorials!

Any guesstimates on how many mw this metal gear is putting out with a 2.7 ohm resistor in-line and with the OEM resistor still in place on the dorcy driver? Anybody have a similar metal gear they've tested?

Also, would it be safe to switch the 3 AAAs for 2 CR123s with the current set up? Or would I need to put another resistor in place of the 2.7 ohm ?
