I been looking at these items. don't know if you seen these

AMC7135 1400mA Regulated Led Driver.

cheap enough to get just to test.

I got a camera that is sensitive to IR pointing at my Landy, experimenting with an IR illuminator to aid camera, anything to stop the thieving gits trying to nick it.

AMC7135 1400mA Regulated Led Driver.

I am pretty sure the AMC chip is a linear regulator just like the LM317 or LM1117, the problem with them is that they can only lower the voltage and loose a lot of energy in the process.

The boost drivers can raise the voltage giving one a wider set of battery options, the buck drivers lower voltage almost without energy losses.

They both work with high frequency switching and a small coil to store energy in.
It is like the transformers of DC voltage.

Hi guys

Finally got an AMS1117 ADJ 0944 Regulator into one of my Laser Pointers.

The regulator itself is capable of providing upto 1.2 Amps, it is a Linear Regulator.

Being very small it can be placed comfortably in small torches.

Heatsinking is a must. The pins are also very small

In the attatched images you can see how small these regs are.

Long time coming

I have now included an AVI Movie for your veiwing pleasure. The Laser pointer in question has an updated Home Made Driver using an AMS1117 Regulator which can supply upto 1 Amp, An LPC-815 LOC Laser Diode, The target is a single peice of Black Electrical Insulation Tape.

The images are of a similar driver as the one in the clips host.

hi all, working on the IR Laser, got myself a neat looking host Ali flash light torch, x3 inline AA cells thin and long, let you know with updates.
