I'm really satisfied, it worked first time! Thanks to LPF for all the help, I really like this place. Maybe I should build a 50 or 100 mW red laser, anybody know were to get the diode for really cheap? Well here's a couple of images

I'm using a nine volt battery (that's why the casing is a little bulky) because I wanted a cheap driver (rkctsr), yet it is still hand held. Next time, I should try a Flexdrive. Also the laser isn't as powerful as normal because my diode comes from an old Xbox 360 HD DVD so I set it at 75 mA. How much mW is that?

Omg white ray!..jk nice first build!...maybe you need to change your name to buildaredlaser... :D just kiddingg
good job once again :)

Nice first build... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

But your scrolling Marquee Sig gets me cross-eyed.. [smiley=tongue.gif]

Very nice build! I love the slim and curved shape of it... very low-profile.

About your desired red laser... go to somewhere like modwerx.com and buy an LPC-815 sled. The diode in that is a long open-can red diode capable of 250mW+

And it only costs $10-20. To learn more about how to build one, extract the diode, etc. just go to the "Red Lasers" bulletin. You'll find out a lot of info there.

And your plans to build a 50mW-100mW red laser are going to be blown out of the water in a good way, since the mostly commonly used red diodes will be capable of 200mW or more! Have fun!

Your probably getting like near the 65-80 mW range. I had mine set to 115 ma and I was getting >95
