thought id show you guys my very adequatly cooled 445nm laser, its a 1WATT 445nm ld module from odicforce laser (highly recomended website, AA++) A cpu copper core heatsink from an old desktop and three 12volt dc fans, plus a small alu heatsink on driver board. iv had it running for a couple of hours without it even getting to body temp.... its rather good;) also you may notice the red tube at aperture, its my focus adapter that i made.. not very pretty i know but very effective....

You know you can upgrade that beast with a latest diode H1600 from dtr and crank it up to 2.2-2.3A , and we're looking 2.5W here!!

Re: my 445nm "super cool" laser module

2.5watts sounds goood:D i think ill play with this for a week or two then h1600 here i come:D then i think ill pop the original in a hand held maybe....... ooh what fun i have got to come! i new cooling was important for the diode, but it amazes me how better it is with the driver running this cold.. rather happy with it... How would i drive a h1600? could i paralell two of these 1.2amp ttl drivers? i really like these ones there easy to fine tune and cool...:D

Re: my 445nm "super cool" laser module

You can use a Flexmod P3 driver or just combine 2x Ben-Boost 1100mA's that'll give you about 2.2A , or a LM1084/1085 based driver there are a lotsa options.. Just make sure you follow the safety guidelines for yourself and same for others near you!

Re: my 445nm "super cool" laser module

so iv got a good choice of driver boards then, thanks for the tips guys it much appreciated... all this has stemmed from me buying a 532nm laser illuminator for my rifle! Two years on iv got a house full of laser bits and bobs working and destroyed:D interests come and go with me but this one is staying (whether it likes it or not ..:)lol)
