Finally got a little time to finish it and make a post. I kept the pics small for fast loading. I'm not going into great detail like most but here it is.
Here's my steps because I now know its not just cut and dry as to what you order and I did make a vital mistake so maybe this will help.
My order
1. 501b host
2. 2watt 445 diode and driver combo from dtr running at 1.8 amps
3. 2 pair of laser safety glasses
4. 2 16340 ultrafire 1000mah batteries with charger. This host calls for 1 18650 battery but the diode driver needs at least 6 volts to operate. 2 16340 batteries are the same length as 1 18650 battery. 1 18650 only gives 3.7 volts. Make sure you order a host that takes 2 18650 batteries and you will avoid a headache. My mistake was the two 16340 batteries. They give me enough voltage but not enough current.
1. I machined a heatsink to house the aixiz module. I made it with a light press fit so to get maximum efficiency. Also applied so heat transfer paste.
2. Next I de-soldered the battery spring from the led module and made a new battery contact circuit board from some prototyping boards I had laying around.
3. I made a small aluminum ring to go in before the heatsink. It servers 2 purposes. It gives me a space to tuck in the wires and I machined it tight so that the heatsink presses it tight against the battery contact board. Also it gives a little extra heat sinking. My driver is inside the aixiz module so it made things super easy.
4. Next I machined a battery extension tube so I could use 2 18650 3000mah batteries. Make sure you get your host right so you won't need to buy or make one. Takes more time. Know your driver voltage and your current needed and get the right host and batteries. The 501b host is smaller than I had imagined.
5. I put it all together and turned it on and it worked .
I haven't had much time to play with it but I will make some beam shots and hopefully a video and post it soon.
It was a joy as well as a learning experience.
I've been doing electrical work for 24 years and still made the mistake with the host and batteries. Get yours right. 2 1 amp batteries in series is still only 1 amp supplied in case anyone new was wondering.
If you look close at the one picture you will see the small aluminum ring inside.
Special thanks to all I've learned from here.
Thanks to dtr for helping me out because I ordered the wrong diode first and he was very helpful in allowing me to change my order.

Yes I know my battery extension needs another coat of paint
