Hey all, I'm Casey. This is my very first laser build. It consists of a Jayrob SS-CR2 kit with a copper heatsink (I love this little thing). The diode is from a SF-BW512P sled being ran by a microboost set to about 375mA. The lens is the 405-G-2 from Will at Lasers4U (he has excellent service). I had to use a press fit sleeve to make the lens fit the heatsink, but it works, and it gives me the ability to focus it easier. It still stays nice and cool for about a minute then warms up, and stays warm for about another 3-4 minutes before it gets too warm for my liking. I use the 1 minute on 30 seconds off rule typically except for the pics. Sorry for such a crap beam shot, I don't have any other way to produce smoke other than my nasty habit. Just so people know. This host is only temporary for my 12x. I have a piece of aluminum to machine a host from. I'm gonna design a pen style host to fit an AW 14670 battery and tapped for the G-2 lens. I will turn this host into my fiance's 445 build. It probably won't be a 1 watt. Because she doesn't need such a powerful laser to start. Atleast not until she can prove responsible enough. Anyways here are some pics of the build. Let me know if you like it or not.
