modding cheap laser

hi, i bought a 20mw green laser from amazon.com, it looks just like the DX lasers. i want to pot mod(i think thats what its called) this laser, but i cant seem to remove the top, no matter how hard i try. does anybody know a method to remove it easily?

i dont think pot modding works on dx lasers. to take one appart you can use pliars and elastic bands or drill a hole in a block of wood... thats what i've read anyway, just search the forums for more info

You have to use some force to get into the DX lasers...you can either use a sharp knife, and place it in the crack where the laser meets the aperature cap, rolling it, and wiggling the knife back and forth, or you drill a hole in a block of wood just a little bit smaller than the laser - you cut the block of wood across the drilled hole (completely in half) and use that to sandwich the tip of the laser in a vise while you pull gently, and twist to get teh laser apart. Make sure that however you end up pulling that thing apart, that you ensure the button is facing down - that way if you pull the module out, it will not break (hopefully)

...this is way harder than i thought...the knife is barely getting through and theres lots of scratches on the silver cap from pliers(before i realized to use my tennis overgrip under the pliers)...i'll keep trying with the pliers. Just to make sure, once i get the cap off, i can turn that screw next to the button for more power rite? (sry, im kind of new to lasers)
