Hey everyone,
I'm sure this has been covered hundreds of times, but I can't really find what I'm looking for, so here goes.
I have been trying to upgrade the power of the lasers in this 'American DJ Royal Sky' laser for quite a while. The venues we play are just too big for this little guy. In order to convince everyone that we really should get into higher quality stage lasers, I'd like to take this one right bellow 1w. I can't go above that without the proper government approval.
I believe this thing is .25w now.
Is this even possible, without breaking the bank of course?
It's seems like it'd be an easy swap out of diodes, but I'm not sure.
Any suggestions, help, ideas, tricks, or information is deeply appreciated.
Cheers,
~Rob K...

If you're using it for professional shows you should not mod it for safety and liability reasons. Better to buy a new unit with a higher power.

The goal of this project is mostly to see if I can do it, and also to show the advantages of a stronger laser. It will be a shop fixture only. I know all too well what happens when we go above .99w.... 1w and above needs variance and fda approval. If this works out it will be a programming tool until the company decides to pick up that new 6w stage laser :)

Well, in that case open it up and try to locate the laser. Take some pictures of it and report back. Some of the projectors have 12mm module holders which makes it easy to mod. Others don't which means you'll need to buy a 12mm module holder or a lab laser + driver package to replace it.
