how many mw of IR do the laser diode in the true 5mw laser from dx give out.(i know the safety needed for IR.)

That could be true, the 5mW probably has crappy crystals.

Yea I know,I was just saying that it's very posible that the pump diodes are pretty close in output power while the green output is 10 times bigger because of the quality of the crystals.Though I have heard of some DX5s with 20mW.

I would say anywhere from 50-100 mw of Ir from a dx 5 mw.

Approximately 200mW in a DX 5, based on current draw. The DX 5 through 30 all draw roughly 350mA, translating to most likely about 200-250mW of IR, difference being in the crystals. You may want to reconsider though, people have been getting DX 5s stock at like 30mW!

But it's possible.5mW of green from 100mW of 808nm is just 5% efficiency.They are inefficient but they can do better than 5% can't they? :-/

Actually, some get up to 20%, but they are expensive ones.
Thing is in a cheap 5mw green you dont want to spend loads on good crystals, they use cruddy ones and a more powerful pump. its cheaper.

My point exactly.The RPL-400 gets to over 16%
