Hello!

I§ve got mt first SD303 laser, and was thinking of modding it. In particular id like to replace the diode with a 2W blue diode.

questions are: is it possible?

will the electronics still work with some potty tewking?

what about heat?

is it worth?

Thanks!

Well, its not going to work. First, the blue laser diode works at 5v+ and na IR one is at 2.2v. Second, the lenses are not for that wavelength.
You can only use the host, nothing else. Maybe the driver can be modified, but that would be just a waste of time. Better buy the lens and the driver.

Makes sense! Thank you for your kind answer!! :)

I would recommend: PL 405/445nm 500-2000mW

If you don't already know, lasers are not very nice to your wallet. Quality lasers are expeeensive. Also, you'll need safety glasses for laser powers more than 15mw. (Technically, 5mw of any color is enough to cause eye damage if pointed directly into an eye. I mean, you could go up to about 30mw before really needing eye protection for regular use. Just get glasses.)
