Here is my new build. It's very simple.
It's direct drive from 3 AAA batteries. Fresh Duracells give 600mA, so the power is around 500mW. I wanted something safer then my 1.5W, so this might be still a bit too much, but still I'm happy with it.
For heat-sink I used simple 24mm spacers glued together, they fit the host perfectly, and the Aixiz module almost perfectly. I filled the 0.5mm gap with thermal glue. I guess the contact is nothing much, but at this power it run quite well even with the module alone.
The board is from original LED flashlight. I removed all the diodes (there were 9 of them), and put the LD in place of the middle one. Then I bridged the resistor which was there and that's all.
The flashlight costs about $10 around here, and for that money it's pretty good. It can be easily dismantled, it has nice strong springs, and good switch. On the other hand it's too small for driver, and there is also little space for different kind of batteries. Good for direct drive, bad for anything else.
At the moment I only run it with default acrylic Aixiz lens which came with the module, which will need some replacement, as the power is a bit higher then I expected. But at the moment I just watch the duty cycle.
Enjoy !

Some beamshots .. notice the bad splash from default lens.
