Here are some shots I took in the middle of the night during a snow storm.

The first one with a flash so you can see it really is night, the laser beam you can't see, but a couple of the snow flakes are lit up.

The second and third photos are long exposure times, hence the brighter scenes that look more like late dusk. Digital SLR cameras are getting so much better that you can take photos in near dark and still end up with a picture that the human eye would have a hard time seeing.

I really liked the fan spread in the third photo. The photo doesn't do the real life experience any justice. This is something you're gonna have to try at home!

I took those photos with a Nikon D70s.
I actually used the Automatic settings under "P".
Picture #2 had an F-stop of f/3.8, shutter open 1/2 second, focal length of 20mm and aperature of 3.7, found in my photo properties of the original file.
Picture #3 had an F-stop of f/3.8, shutter open 0.62 second, focal length of 20mm and aperature of 3.7, found in my photo properties of the original file.
The camera was stationary on a tripod and using a remote shutter button as to not cause any camera jiggle when taking the picture with such a long shutter exposure.
