Any chance of making a microboost v2 with just that addition built in for an out of the box solution for high power builds? Or is there a big reason that was not part of the initial design (size maybe). Hosts without aixiz modules (direct diode to heatsink fitting) usually are not concerned about a little more space needed. It just seems that is such an easy addition to the driver to not include it in the design if it helps reduce the heat so much.One of the things you can do to improve efficiency in high current builds like this with the microboost is to solder two one-ohm resistors in parallel with the large range resistor, turn the potentiometer all the way down, and re-set the current to 1A with a dummy load. This will relieve the circuit of 250mW heat, and it will also use a little less juice from your battery and require a little less voltage from it, too
Update: So this gets rid of the heat in the POT only correct? Is that the main source for the heat in the microboost? I just bought a Fluke 289/FVF combo kit which can do on screen logging and has a temp probe so this was one of the things I wanted to test with it... To find where the heat is on the drivers at high output settings.
What wattage resister do you recommend for this mod?
