max PULSED power?

Has anyone done experiments to determine the max pulsed power for a 445nm diode? Since they can do 1.5W CW, would the diode potentially do say 5W+ for 10ms with a 10% duty cycle? I have a partially completed CNC XY table that was meant to be a CNC mill, but that got a bit too complicated (buying/fabricating parts, not the electronics) so it would be interesting to turn it into a laser cutter/etcher. I doubt it could ever cut metal, but ablating black paint off a circuit board like this would be useful, as well as cutting plastics.

I would say mS no.... uS maybe...

Don't forget to heat material enough to cut it
requires CW or the "average" pulsed power..
5Watts pulsed will not get you 5Watts of CW
cutting power...IMO

Guess I'll wait till I finish the 445 pointer before I start messing with it then.. Hopefully ~1.5W CW will be enough to remove paint from copper. If not, I'll probably look into a PBS cube to make 3W. I'd prefer not to have to deal with IR and the difficulties aligning and focusing an invisible beam...

Why don't you get a Co2 laser they are getting cheaper on ebay and that is realy what you need !
