Hi Guys,

I have attempted to configure SSL on LPF (meaning LPF can now be accessed over https -- https://laserpointerforums.com). Not sure yet how smooth this will work as LPF uses some older software / plugins. If you notice anything not working which used to work, please let me know.

Best Regards,

-Avery

Had wondered about that for a while, noticed there was no SSL.

Seems to be working fine thus far! Thanks for adding that. :)

It seems to work, sort of.

I do see security errors with external images like the one above. It IS available over https, but it loads over plain http.

This does not compromise the connection between user and LPF itself, but it will cause the page not to be considered 'secure' by browsers.

It may be hard to mitigate that issue though, people can include images from all kinds of websites, some of which may not even support ssl. For youtube you could adapt the links autmatically, as you could for some common sources like imgur, but that would not cover -everything-.

made a change, please test if youtube vids work now.. testing

Seems to be working fine to me, as in being able to see the videos :)

The page still does not show as 'secure' though as the imgur image is still loaded over http, not https. Perhaps it is possible to change imgur embedded images to https as well since the site supports that.

This would not 'fix' every single page, but if you tackle the most common image and video hosting services it would make most pages on lpf 'secure' in the sense that the browser indicates so.

This could be fairly important as i understand google has plants on labeling anything considered 'not secure' for a warning if it contains a form like this reaction box.
