Hi, I'm a newbie to buying and selling lasers and I'm looking to purchase a 1 watt laser on a budget. Preferably <$100. Any input is helpful. Thanks!

You should read the stickies in the welcome section, and introduce yourself there. It's also a good idea to add your location to your profile. :)

The stickies here in the general section will also be useful to you.

Also, welcome!

Welcome! 1W lasers within a budget of 100$ is certainly possible. But you need a pair of safety glasses as well. I would recommend spending a little more so you can get the glasses too, since your post makes me believe that this is your first high powered laser. Also, like mentioned before, add your location so it's eqsier for us to recommend certain lasers.

For now, take a look at this laser: SF501B 445nm Blue

newbies shouldnt start with 1w lasers, do u know how powerful those are ? not like u should be using those without any goggles so u kinda miss all the fun really.. dont see why everyone wants 1w or more when buying lasers as newbies.. is it because everyone else has them and they must to ? its not that fun to burn stuff either u must have goggles on and u wont see the beam anyways with those on thats why i rarely use mine in fact i dont even remember last time i used it lol.... its just so damn bright and scary how powerful those are i prefer much lower lasers then 1w.

I added my location as recommended. I currently own three sets of safety glasses and have had a 100mW 532nm, a 200mW 650nm, and a 500mW 532nm for some time now. I'm interested in normal laser burning, but more so in the physics of more powerful lasers.

Good to know you already know about how important safety is and how to handle lasers. The Sci-Fi laser is a good choice if you decide to go with that. It is built well and usually overspec. The owner is a member of the forum too and he has great customer service.

Prices for 1W/1000mW 445nm blue lasers have come down quite a bit---there are a lot of them available at around $100.

SciFi is a good guy forum membe and stand behind his products.

laserbtb is a good maker reasonable prices -- PL 405/445nm 500-2000mW or HL 405,445,450nm

O-like has one on sale for $59.99 New waterproof Blue laser 1W torch /focusable [OL-BLUW] - $59.99 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce

Be sure to check out the Buy, Sell, Trade section of LPF--a lot of really excellent builders are members.

Alright, so I haven't decided between the O-Like or the Sci-fi. The deciding factor will be if any of you have purchased the O-Like 1 Watt and tested it on a power meter. I already saw a video of someone testing a Sci-fi and that one looks legit. My greatest fear is buying one and it being like 100mW. :thanks:

well if you buy from scifi its pretty much a 100% guarenteed on spec!

I can help you out. :)

I'll send you a pm with all of my information for you to look at such as:
-My Website
-Videos of the Lasers in action so you can see what they are capable of.
-My Facebook Page
-Customer Reviews

All of my lasers come with a sparkle tip and/or expanded lens kit for special effects depending on which laser you choose.

Every laser I sell I throw in a free shocking laser too which is a ton of fun

Shipping is FAST! After you order, the laser gets shipped the very next day. And you will receive it in 2-3 days if you are in the US. If you are outside of the US it will take 7-10 days to receive it.
