I thought I have seen some light set ups for bike that allow the lights to run off the energy of the bikes spinning wheel. Could that be applied here if battery life is an issue? I can't imagine it would be very cost effective, but if it an idea of concept it might be something to mention.

I think what you are talking about is a Dynamo hub? yea it is a possibility :yh:

Hi again guys, when making the light into a line to be placed on the road like was previously discussed (using a line generator lens) and shown on the picture above, could you make a laser project a line on the road that went straight down the side of the cyclists and then curved around the back of the cyclist?

Im sure it could be possible, but I have no clue if such *lens* exists.

Yes that would require a custom lens.

Thanks both The Greenlander and the Lightning stalker for your replies! I never realised actually how interesting lasers are it's been an eye opener and the next few months are looking good for this project! I have a lot to learn ( especially for when it comes to building working prototypes )
