Looking for recomendations on 638nm

i found a pair of HDE Laser eye protection goggles on Amazon for 8.99 free shipping,

http://www.amazon.com/HDE-Protection-Safety-Glasses-Lasers/dp/B00MQ4LJK8

I just want to double check if any of you have heard anything about this pair of goggles?

Should i just go strait to the eagle pair? thanks!

nope, those goggles do REALLY well with 635-38nm. i have a 900mW 638 and those goggles make it easy to veiw the focused dot up close.

I would go for the HL63603TG diode from DTRs laser shop, set at 300mA and with a 3 element lens. You should get ~140mW with that, and the good divergence of the 3 element lens means the beam would be easier to see, however becuase the longer wavelength of red means it will diffuse less in air (rayleigh scattering) resulting in a much less visible beam than a short wavelength laser. Yes, the rayleigh scattering effect on short wavelengths is what makes the sky blue. Of course, with fog, the beam will become REALLY apparent and visible.
