Looking for a laser

So what your saying is, Even tho they claim it's a 15mw green laser, with a visable beam in that enviroment (no smoke i guess) It's going to be higher...

Because I want a FDA approved laser. I'm willing to spend 150 MAX for one. And I'm not sure what's the best FDA approved laser for that amount. Also, While im asking.. Is it true a 75mw dot can show in the clouds. Someone on youtube claims he can see the dot on a cloudy night, in the clouds.
 





Well just keep in mind that iI have a x100, the beam is visible from what i have seen about 200 yards from the laser and you'll see it just stop like a light saber if you shine it in the sky, but the dot can be seen on objects 50 miles away( but how can i test that lol) just so you know.

Well I think i made a decision. I was debating a 55mw or a 75mw from skylasers. The 75, cant really burn much. Skylasers told me, that Indoors during the day, I will be able to see the beam as clear as my 5mw at night. aka faded. But at night, it will be VERY visible.

Also to their site, a 55mw laser is rated for 15 miles. So, I think, I'll be buying the 55 mw laser. Even though it can only burn with a lens (my point was mainly beam brightness, not so much the burning), The beam is suppose to be A LOT better than my 5mw, and fully clear at night. I think I'll buy it. Fully FDA approved and legal to have due to it's safety.
 
id go with the 55mw.

75mw is extra money you dont need to spend if your not interested in burning,

ive owned several 50mw and yes, the beam is DEFINATELY visible at night :) .. but then i put em next to my ~175mw and they look sad, hah
 
Hi ArRaY, we actually manufacture our own red laser pointers, when you get the chance, you are welcome to send us an email at support@skylasers.net so we can discuss the possibility of you reviewing one of our red laser pointers for the forum. If you see the picture at the bottom of the Ruby Series product page, this is a picture of the 100mW Ruby Series in action. The beam is visible in dark conditions.

As for Killa-x, the difference in brightness between the 55mW and the 75mW is actually quite little. To be honest, if you are only looking for brightness, the 55mW is probably more than enough, you can even consider the 35mW.
 
Yeah I'll get the 55. If I want a burning laser I'll get the 100mw red down the road next year. That way I pay less for a burner and my green for the beam. :)
 
Hey Skylasers.net, so you do manufacture the red lasers in the cni hosts yourself? Nice!
While I would like to do a review, I do not have a laser power meter and various other equipment that some of the other members have. Therefore, I would gladly pass the chance to do a review to another member.

Hey ArRay, Maybe your the right person to ask for this. Is a 100mw red laser good to use for a burning laser? If I ever wanted one id get the red because its cheaper, but next year. I wanted to get the green one for the beam this year, maybe the red for the burner next year. :D Good burner?
 
A 100mW red burner is rather on the lower edge. Most Burners on this forum are >180, while most really are about 200 or more. They go upto 300mW, but that depends on heatsinking, lens, diode used and how much you like risks ;)

I have a 125mW red myself, and its burning abilities are 'ok'. The thing you want to burn has to be in the exact focus point, and it has to be black or at least very dark colored. However, the bloody color is very cool ;)

I wouldn´t really recommend a red with only 100mW as your main 'burner'. Especially, if there is no ability to focus it, or you do not have some kind of lens caps.

For the same money you could build your own 300mW burner, long open cans are availible for as little as 13$ now...

Besides that, I never owned any other red lasers except the one I build myself some time ago. So perhaps someone else could evaluate the pros and cons that I did not mention... :-/

Yeah I never built a laser before since I figured it costs a lot.  I dont want to be paying much over $100 for a laser.  So i figured home brewing diodes in a empty can would you know, cost a bit still

yeah I made my choice. I'm sticking with the green one. If my brother let's me get one now, and another for Christmas, I'll get the red 200mw. Else I'll just get the green one. * wonders how bright his room will glow with it*. My 5mw can glow my room enough to see things. Good flashlight so u don't trip when the power is off. But 55mw? Bright :D
 
Hi ArRaY, yes, we actually manufacture all the diodes. We produced the outer casing as well and I guess it does look somewhat similar to cases manufactured by several other companies. After being more established in the laser pointer business, I'll be sure to design a unique outer casing to distinguish our products from others. If you have any members on the forum you think would be able to give us a fair review, can you please have them email us. We would love to work with more members here.

Our diy-ing usually means that you pre-buy the diode. ::) Even IF you're gonna go to the extreme extent to DIY a diode you're still gonna have to buy the dye.I'm pretty sure that can't be made in a house. :P

On another note, skylasers seem really interested in the forum , and with pretty good english too. :D I hope someone will agree to do a review.I'm curious about the new products' quality.

Btw, I'm pretty sure they're completely separate of CNI and the cases resemble those of CNI but you can tell there are differences.
