Looking for 445nm laser but confused

Hi all,

It's already a year ago since I visited LPF.
But I was suprised to see the existence of the 445nm Handhelds (which is completely new for me)

My first thought was... I must have one.
First of all, a 1000mW handheld sounds very nice (especially for the relatively low price)
And second, the wavelength fits perfectly with my other 3 lasers (132mw 405, 98mw 532 and 200mw 650)

But reading all the info is a little confusing.

I like to have the highest power possible (but stable and reliable) so it must be at least 1W.
For burning I think it needs to be focussable (because of the large beam diameter)
But the focussable 445nm lasers (like the Arctic and Rayfoss are actually 700mW)
I think the build and output of the DL Spartan seems the best for me but unfortunately it cannot be focussed.
Building it myself is no option either.

What should I do?
Are there accessories I can use to make the Spartan focussable without the need to dismantle it?
Or maybe someone who has a focussable 445nm 1W+ for sale?

And finally, will my Nova OD6 goggles give enough protection for burning experiments with this Class4 laser?

Thanks.

Hello, on Dragon Lasers website they have a beam expander under accessories for under $100. I am thinking about getting one, tho I have to choose between lasers or mods for my car.

Browse the 445nm lasers section and the Buy, Sell, Trade forum. All your questions will be answered.

I too vote for home-build. Do it yourself or buy complete one .. but don't buy this one in China (or close).

i too have been gone from this forum way too long and am just as surprised about 445nm portables as you are..

seems the home-brew builds are the best way to go about owning one... though even i myself have fallen a few times to unfinished projects... so i'm just about ready to contemplate having someone commission me one...
