Looking at 1 or 2 watt beams from the side

Thank you all for that answer. However, none of you specifically said they commonly actually look at 1 or 2 watt laser beams without safety glasses and still have no vision problems.

Please tell me how long you have been looking at laser beams of this power, whether 532nm or 445nm or blue or whatever. Please tell me. Also please tell me whether your optometrist has noticed injuries.

As we've all said - there is no danger in just looking at a beam outside in the open air. It's reflections and direct exposure that do damage.

I've looked at >40 WATT beams - no issues. Actually, if you want to get technical that was 40 WATTS average. Peak power would have been well into the KILOWATTS.
