long distance tactical lasers?

Hi, it's been a while. Recently I've started getting into longer range shooting and was wondering what kinds of tactical laser builds (to be used as a rifle or pistol style laser sight) might be excellent for extreme ranges? And what's the farthest I can go with a domestic laser? I'm talking like, in 10s or hundreds of yards, 445nm vs. 532nm, 5mW vs. 750+mW, and so on.

Having a crude set of examples with max range might help too. We've got arms ranging from several yards to a 338 lapua accurate out to - well I don't think a laser goes that far, but I can hope.

Green dpps lasers with the right objects will shoot into space, will it be a point target no, but at that range the 338 laupa will have a worse minute arc than the laser the issue I see is can the dpss assembly take the shock of a 338 ultra or laupa. I would say it would be expensive to get a small dot you could see at 2 miles but with the right power and optics it is possible. However after 1.5k the bullet will have drop but the laser will not. So their is the issue of keeping the EM beam and the bullet in the same line.

^^ Not to mention spin drift and environmental variables.. Even if you could
sight the laser in, no 2 shots are gonna be the same at that distance. even if
the laser is on the same target.

All that aside, you could come up with something that may go that range, just
not sure how you could gauge the shot unless you mount the laser in a really nice scope
and make your adjustment. Even then the dot will not be on the target itself.
As with the crosshairs, your gonna be somewhere else.

A beam of light travels in a straight line (for our purpose here at least).
A projectile does not.

A scope and lots of practice will be more effective and practical than a laser.

By the way, a laser with the right optics will project a beam farther than the eye can see. The laws of physics just make it difficult to keep that beam smaller than the target.

well, if you attach a laser to the scope mount, it should more or less adjust with your elevation. I'm not sure, but lasers are used as range finders and for calibration.

A blue laser diverges at incredibly short ranges, so I just get the impression there may be a divergence approximating the normal inaccuracies of various ammunition at set ranges.

There's not much I can do about the rotation of the Earth and lasers shooting straight, but I was hoping for 100-400+ yard lasers for rifles and maybe something like 20-50 yard lasers for hunting pistols (which have longer barrels, and better ballistics).

I don't expect a laser to be an effective combination out to 1500+ yards, even if the rounds can go that far.
