Lockheed Martin destroyed a truck engine from 1 mile away with a laser. The video also shows the laser melt the hull of a boat so it sinks it for combat situations. If everyone had one all fighting would be over.

Boeing has LM beat. This is from 2009 and the C-130 the laser was mounted to was somewhere around FL 300. That's 30,000 feet for those that don't understand flying lingo.

Not something I would want aimed at me.

I was reading about this somewhere recently
and it is pretty. Amazing I guess it uses
spectral beam combining which is an
interesting concept. I guess Lockheed is just
calling everything they make athena now.

I find their ability to stabilize the beam so well from a moving aircraft so far away just as amazing.
