Hi

Can I get links to purchase a camera that can help me see the beam of 980nm infrared laser pointer.

For eg in this YouTube link, the guy sees 808nm laser pointer on camera

I would like to see 980nm laser beam like above in the camera. Or any other device which will help me see the 980nm beam is also fine.

Thanks

Look for cameras with NO IR CUT FILTER because some will allow 808 or 915 .....whatever their onboard illumination is but will block all other IR so get a security cam with NO IR CUT filter and you can use it for any IR you want to see.

Or you can remove the IR filter from a cheap camera, my home security cameras see IR very well as do I'm sure baby monitor cameras that advertise seeing in the dark and IR illumination.

You just need to choose if you want wireless or how you want to view and record such as your cell phone device or laptop.

It will help to turn off or disable any IR illumination from the IR leds on these cameras so they don't drown out what you want to see.

Just search ebay and find all you want.

I purchased a CMOS IR camera years ago for this very purpose. I no longer have a link, but it cost me ~$20.00, IIRC. Mine had no IR filter, so it wasn't an issue. I have it connected to the video input on my 50 inch TV, which works quite well for this.

A little off topic, but thinking about cameras I was wondering which was better, CMOS or the older CCD as things do evolve over time but also making things cheaper is a big factor, here's a little info:

I've also seen that you can remove the IR cut filter from a cell phone camera. I've got an older Note 4 laying around that I want to do this to so I can put it in VR headgear. This will not only allow me to see the beam but also protect my eyes.

First gen night vision works real well and you can have fun with it outside.

Not even first gen, any cheap ebay "night vision" cameras would work for this. Note 980nm will appear still appear quite dim compared with 808nm.

The first gen scopes use 940 for illumination

I made a pair from virtual goggles and a hobby cam so I could place the cam on the goggles or set the cam remote and see my beam from oncoming perspective, I can think of other uses as well...............worked great but now I am getting to that age where I often need to wear low power reading glasses so I need to make another pair that will fit over glasses now.

I did take apart the VR goggles and found a nice color LCD screen, amazing what you can get for about 60 dollars if you shop around, I do plan to get an over glasses pair of goggles as I also like the idea of total eye protection when working with invisible beams.

Check out Wyze Cam. I have one and it’s great. You could probably open it up and remove the filter.

Oh, that's interesting

Can you link me please

Here are a couple YouTube Videos:
How to find and remove ir filter from you mobile for night vision(samsung galaxy g360)
How to remove ir filter from your cell phone camera (make night vision camera)

These are the cheap but effective goggles I have:
MERGE AR/VR Headset

And this Android app let's it all happen:
FD VR - Virtual Reality Camera

I've done all of this except for removing the IR cut filter and it works enough to see some IR. Removing the filter will definitely improve the capabilities though.

Think this is what I have

I lie the idea of total eye safety. That’s a great idea.
