Yes, I did everything myself, the RGB-lights has almost taken a year, working a few hours on the weekends. ;)
And I'm still not finished lol!


C'mon now someone else more must have done something with LEDs, post dammit!
 





Another pic of my little magnetic sculpture, which to my surprise is still glowing strong despite the batteries being half dead to begin with... I'm also glad none of the LED's have overheated or yellowed, despite being connected directly to voltage with no resistors.

I got an LED for free with one of my orders from a company, and since I didn't have any supplies at my cabin, I hooked it up to a 9V battery to entertain myself. [smiley=evil.gif] No resistors or anything.

Wouldn't that short out at the magnet? :-? ;)

Yes, well that's the point... The LEDs require 3v, the magnet completes the circuit between the batteries.

Damn FML, I know you were into LEDs , but that's really something :D How many meters high would the pile be? ;D
 
So, on my ceiling I have these grooves which are about 1cm deep and 1,5cm wide. They are 60cm apart. I've been thinking of arranging some LED's in those grooves so I can illuminate my room that way. Do you have any ideas on how I could do this and what the cost would be? And also, do you know of a white LED that doesn't distort colors?
 
Haha, idk lol, not so much I guess ;D. haven't mixed all of my LEDs one big pile before.


These are probably the best LEDs for general lighting with a CRI of 90%, like a incandescent lightbulb. But they cost hella much (but are hella bright 8-)) and need heat sinking so idk.

For the stairs I bought "48 warm-white LED lightbulb" at kjell&company for really cheap, it was cheaper than buying bare LEDs [smiley=happy.gif]. They have a significantly warmer hue than standard white LEDs, but still don't quite give that incandescent feel.

Not sure how many LEDs you need to light up a room, they're about 2 lumens each. I connected three of them is series, with a 120 ohm resistor, at 12V dc.

There are also these thin LED-strips that can be used pretty much anywhere, molectric and DX has them.
 
Yeah, I'm looking for a low profile setup. LED-strips are a nice option, but I will need many meters and it will cost a lot :(
