I am on my process to buy two lyra's (either new from laserglow or second hand from scopeguy, we will see).
Which one do you recommend for lecture?
This will be the main use of those pointers and i don't want an overkill dot so that all the audience will be like cats trying to catch that dot ;D.
I really like the look of the lyra's C or G and would like input about the best outpout power for lecture in the green laser range.

Thank you

Stef

2mW doesn't make much of a difference when it comes to brightness... I would get the Lyra C5 or the Galileo. The Galileo is the best because of its size, the clicky switch and lots of heat sinking so it is a very stable laser. It is also focusable.

Well, you can't focus it without voiding the warranty.

And there really isn't any need to in the first place.

It is a very good laser, but isn't made for presentations or lecture.

I would go with the Lyra 3. The 5mW versions won't be noticeably brighter so you may as well save $10.

so there is no difference between 3mW and 5mW in brightness?
That's around 66% more power, i would have expected a difference in brightness... lol

I am still trying to figure between 3mW or 5mW (i want to buy 2 of them so i might end up buying one of each lol, but LG doesn't seem to do pricing reduction for 2 different items...
With shipping 2x G3 @ 109$ or 2x G5 @ 127$ or 1 G5 + 1 G3 @ 120$

What a dilema ;D ;D

I think LG has a discount code...

267101203 is Laserglow's "Forum Discount Code", and you can use this on our site to save 10% on anything. I'll even let you in on a little secret... it works on our Christmas bundes and other deals too, so you can save some serious coin by combining the bundles with a discount code.

Justin is the Laserglow sales guy.
What a nice guy.
Personally LG is my favorite laser distributor.

i was already using that code but thanks anyway  ;)
I mean if I buy 2 of the same unit, the price is cut by 4 bucks each, so 8 bucks total, it seems i can;t do that with 2 different units (except if I tweak the thing)
I am not that greedy for 8 bucks lol

I am leaning towards buying a C5 and a G3 (so i will be able to differenciate the 3-4.5 to the 4.5-5 mW easily on the casing color and have a 3 and a 5)..

Anyone that do a lot of lecture and can clarify the upper limit for lecture (I am so use to my cheapest red laser almost fainted  ;D )

It looked like it was focusable in the picture. :-/

I recently ordered the Lyra G5 instead of the G3, but only because it's satifieing to know it's actually 5mW.

You get what you pay for!

(Except WL)

Do you mean that I paid for a 5mW laser, so I get an actual 5mW laser?

He means price generally equates to quality.
With the exception of wickedlasers- they overprice underperforming lasers.

Yeah that's what I though. It's easy to see how WL is underspec just by watching youtube vids. I guess they sell to people who think there lasers are cool because they think they are powerful and don't know what a real "X" (variable) powered laser looks/works like.

personally WL was the only laser distro i knew about before DX then i almost died and was like who would pay 200$+ for a 5mW!! even if it is "executive" lol ;D
