Hello guys,
I've been having some problems with my laserbee in the last few months but never really wanted to ship it to Canada to get it fixed. The main problem was the USB cable which was poor quality thus the connector broke and after some inspection same thing happened to one of the connections inside the unit. The thing was that my pc recongized the profilic (rs232-usb) board which lives inside the laserbee but I couldn't get a reading from the unit. From time to time though I was able to get a reading. After I cracked the thing open, I found out that one of the signal wires had a cold/bad joint. In the following pictures you can see that I replaced the wire with a more flexible-robust one, plus I installed a switch, a red LED and of course fixed the bad joint. Enjoy!

Thanks for watching!

BTW I still have one more problem...(probably something with the driver), whenever I plug in my Laserbee it I get an error saying "Device cannot start"! I was getting this before the mod so nothing to do with the modification! Next up on my list is adding an LCD to it! :thanks:

Nice job mate :)

As for the driver problem a USB-serial CP2102 is $2 on ebay. May be worth a try to replace the one inside the laserbee to see if that fixes it?

Thank you very much!
Here is a method I found that works, I plug the LPM, go to device manager, right click on profilic driver and select unistall device+device software. Next time I plug it in it works...but if I unplug it and then plug it back in I get the same error again....it's frustrating....:yabbmad:

Contacted Bauer about the problem, and they replied saying that the profilic board inside my Laserbee doesn't support Windows 8... :/
ARG which board do you suggest?
